Illetas means islets, in fact in this wonderful stretch of beach there are many small islands, also reachable by swimming. This is definitely the most Caribbean and picturesque beach of Formentera, although in the summer months is very crowded. Without waves, the crystal clear water seems a natural pool. From the nearby restaurants you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas or practice water sports. The final part of the peninsula called Es Trucadors is walkable until the end (length: 1 km and a half stretch of sand, with the sea on both sides). Lunch option: Es Molì De sal. It located a few meters from the sea; this restaurant offers the unique opportunity to enjoy the food and wine with stunning views of one of the island’s best beaches. On the eastern part of the peninsula, right next to the natural area of Saline, you can find Platja de Llevant (“Levante Beach”), a virgin beach, exceptionally beautiful and large. The sand is white and fine, the sea is always clean; the area has kiosks, you can rent umbrellas and hammocks. Lunch option: Tanga. this popular bar-restaurant, opened more than 30 years ago, precisely in 1978. It is so popular that many people think that Tanga is the name of the beach. The house specialty is lobster stew, paella and of course fresh fish and also a wide selection of wines, sparkling wines and champagne. The Tanga has a lovely terrace overlooking the beach. On the northern coast of the island overlooking the town of Es Pujols, small center but rich of facilities and services for the tourists. Its beach is perhaps the best equipped and most popular of Formentera. It is bordered by a pedestrian walkway where there are local shops and restaurants. During the high season it is much frequented by celebrities. The water is blue, low and crystalline. But it is not the most suitable for relaxation. To find more tranquility, just move to LIevant, reachable on foot. Lunch option: Chezz Gerdi. This restaurant and beach bar was the oldest bar on the beach of Es Pujols and was recently renovated. Very beautiful and characteristic is the wooden walkway leading from the beach of Es Pujols along the sea, towards Punta Prima, up to the entrance. Just perfect for an aperitif or for a dinner. Playa de Migjorn (“midday beach”), with its 6 km long, is without doubt the largest and one of the most enjoyable beaches of Formentera. It stretches along the coast south of the island, the wildest part, between the two extremes Cap de Barbaria and Far de la Mola, and has a varied coastline and enchanting splendor, full of rocky inlets and coves with golden sands; the water is deep blue and bright. Despite the beauty, the overall number of tourists in the area, with the exception of a couple of beaches, is by no means comparable to that of the beaches to the north, so it is definitely ideal for those who want to enjoy the beautiful coast of Formentera in peace. Lunch option: Blue Bar. : is one of the most famous of Formentera, and it can be reached from the 8th km of the road to el Pilar de la Mola. Once the Blue Bar was a meeting place for the hippies of the island, while at present it is during the day a typical lunch place, changing ast sunset turning into a music-bar full of young people attracted by the environment and by refined atmosphere, with chill-out music in the background. The most popular beach of all the southern coast of Formentera is Es Arenals, you find it proceeding from Migjorn eastwards, towards the promontory of La Mola. Es Arenals is known for its beauty, with white sand and beautiful sea, and is particularly popular with tourists. Lunch Option: Flipper & Chiller . located at 11 km of Platja Migjorn, precisely on the beach of Es Arenals, this place is popular as a bar during the cocktail party. You can taste excellent tartare, clams marinara and nachos with guacamole. The beach of Cala Saona is situated in the western part of Formentera, a few kilometers south-west of the capital Sant Francesc Xavier, and it is certainly to be counted among the most beautiful and popular island. Despite its small size, this beach is distinguished by the tranquility and the striking natural beauty that surrounds it. The outdoor area is surrounded by a lovely wooded area, ideal place to stroll and relax in the shade of the pines; the bay with fine sand tucked between two groups of red cliffs on a magnificent bay, whose crystalline waters appear an amazing deep blue. The coastal view is spectacular: you can glimpse at the luxuriant hills of Ibiza and the coasts of the islands of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell.
Near the port of La Savina, west of Saline, you can find two very characteristic beaches, located just 2 km from each other: Cala Savina and Cavall d’en Borràs. They are small coves, which have the advantage of offering a beautiful green sea with shallow and sandy bottom, great for relaxing swims; the nearby port of Cala Savina is an excellent starting point to get what you want. Lunch option: El Tiburon. This place is very well loved by celebrities because of its cheerful, informal and for the ‘excellent range of cocktails and dishes of fish to accompanying an aperitif. Recommended black ‘agnolotti‘ stuffed with salmon and crab.
