Formentera’s beaches: White sand & crystal clear water – Part 2

With its unspoilt natural beaches, Formentera is the wildest island of the Balearic group, where the sand and the sea blend in a unique way to create spectacular colours. If you are looking for a natural experience during your stay, this island is definitely for you. Today we will continue our journey to discover its most beautiful beaches.

 Playa Es Pujols

Es Pujols is a very popular beach, and the most well-equipped beach on the island. Homonymous in the country, it has a pedestrian walkway with  bars, shops, restaurants and chiringuitos(beach bars). During the high season it is frequented by many VIPs who like to relax in the sun and live the day in the name of the “movida”. Equipped with a large residential area, it is the ideal solution for anyone wishing to enjoy their holiday in the most lively and busiest place on the island.

Playa Migjorn

A 5 km long masterpiece, this is Migjorn beach. It stretches along the Southern coast of the island, between Cap de Barbaria and Faro de La Mola, and, due to the poor urban settlement of the area,  represented by very few houses with direct access to the beach, it is poorly crowded. Migjorn, which means “noon”, takes its name from its characteristic southern wind and has an enchanting coastline full of small coves and golden beaches. Despite its unexpected tranquility, however, it is equipped with all amenities, including restaurants, chiringuitos(beach bars), underwater sport and sailing facilities.

 Caló des Morts

Caló des Morts is a small hidden cove located in the southern part of Migjorn Beach, considered a true gem of nature. To get there, we have to leave the center of Sant Ferran, take the road to La Mola and divert after passing the center of Es Caló. Once at the beach parking, take the path to the left until Bartolo’s kiosk; from here you reach the cove through a steps carved in the rock. You will find yourself in front of a small half-moon sand tongue that will immediately make you fall in love with the place. Be careful, though, get there early in the morning as the beach is narrow and therefore leaves little space for sunbathing.

Playa Es Arenals

The most popular beach on the southern coast of Formentera is Es Arenals, which is met by Migjorn eastwards in the direction of La Mola. It reminds of some Mallorca’s beaches for its beautiful natural scenery and, thanks to its stunning sea and its whitewashed beach, is a popular destination for tourists. It has a free coastline and one equipped, like most Spanish beaches.
